Product Description
Build a detailed replica of the famous Polikarpov I-15 Soviet biplane fighter with this 1:33 scale paper model kit from OREL. The model depicts the I-15 in Spanish Air Force markings, representing an aircraft type that saw extensive combat during the Spanish Civil War.
Developed by the Polikarpov Design Bureau in the Soviet Union and first flown in 1933, the I-15 was a highly manoeuvrable biplane fighter that became an important part of Soviet military aviation during the 1930s. The aircraft was supplied to the Spanish Republican Air Force, where Soviet volunteer pilots also flew the type during the Spanish Civil War.
Known in Spain by the nickname “Chato”, the I-15 fought against aircraft including the German Heinkel He 51 and Italian Fiat CR.32. After the Civil War, surviving I-15 aircraft continued to be used in Spain, primarily in secondary and training roles.
OREL's model offers a good level of detail for aviation modellers, including a detailed cockpit and engine, as well as movable control surfaces. The kit is printed on 12 A4 sheets and provides an attractive project for enthusiasts of historic military aircraft and paper modelling.
