HMS Leopard saw active service in multiple major conflicts, including the wars of the French Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars, and the Anglo-American War of 1812. The ship captured the French privateer Apollo in 1798 and the vessel Clarissa in 1800. Later converted into a military transport, HMS Leopard met its end in 1814 after running aground near Anticosti Island in dense fog while transporting 475 Royal Scotsmen to Quebec.
