Product Description:
Build one of the most unique German customs ships with this HMV paper model kit of the SWATH cruiser Helgoland / Borkum in 1/250 scale. Designed by Peter Brandt and carefully completed by Andreas Jacobsen, this challenging papercraft kit offers a highly detailed reproduction of the real ships that serve the German Federal Customs Service.
The kit allows you to construct either Helgoland or its sister ship Borkum, both launched in 2009/2010 and stationed in Cuxhaven. With a choice between full hull or waterline version, this model captures the unusual SWATH hull form, which provides remarkable stability in rough seas.
Packed with 1,490 precision-cut parts across 12 A4 sheets, this advanced model kit includes countless fine details: a detailed 8.5 m speed boat, motorized rubber dinghy, filigree davits, optional bridge interior, crane, winches, accessories, and the prototypical mast – one of the greatest challenges of the build.
The German Customs Cruiser Helgoland / Borkum card model is an excellent addition to any maritime model collection, pairing perfectly with HMV’s Mellum and Nordic kits. Experienced modelers will appreciate the craftsmanship, accuracy, and challenge of this kit.
