Developed for the United States Armed Forces, the M142 HIMARS is a highly mobile multiple launch rocket system mounted on a wheeled military truck chassis. Designed to provide rapid and accurate fire support, HIMARS can engage a wide variety of battlefield targets using different types of guided and unguided rockets and missiles.

One of the system's major advantages is its mobility and rapid deployment capability. The launcher uses interchangeable, factory-loaded weapon pods, allowing it to be prepared and reloaded considerably faster than traditional artillery systems. Depending on the ammunition carried, HIMARS can launch six GMLRS-family rockets, two PrSM missiles, or one ATACMS missile.
