Product Description
Build a detailed scale replica of the Polikarpov I-3, one of the Soviet Union's important early fighter aircraft, with this Orel 151 card model kit in 1:33 scale.
Developed under the leadership of renowned Soviet aircraft designer Nikolai N. Polikarpov, the I-3 was designed from 1926 as a new high-speed fighter for the Soviet Air Force. Powered by the BMW VI engine, it was a single-seat biplane of predominantly wooden construction, distinguished by its clean aerodynamic lines.
The first prototype was tested in the spring of 1928, reaching approximately 290 km/h, an impressive performance for a Soviet fighter of the period. Following further trials, the I-3 was accepted for service and entered operational units. Approximately 389 aircraft were produced between 1928 and 1931.
Published by Orel, this 1:33 scale paper model features a well-designed construction, detailed parts and quality printing. With 12 A4 sheets, it offers aviation modellers the opportunity to recreate an unusual interwar Soviet fighter in impressive detail.
