Product Description
The Leon was a Norwegian merchant brigantine built in 1880 in Larvik, with Porsgrund as her home port. Designed for trade across the North Sea and Baltic, Leon primarily transported goods between Norway and the British Isles, later being converted into a schooner as maritime needs evolved.
This highly detailed card model kit faithfully represents a typical 19th-century Norwegian civil fleet sailing vessel. The model reflects historical accuracy in hull shape, rigging layout, and deck fittings, making it an excellent choice for serious ship model enthusiasts. Leon remained in service until 1915, when she tragically sank after suffering damage while fully loaded with coal on a voyage from Granton to Porsgrunn.
Published by Orel, this kit includes 22 A4 sheets with English-language instructions. Due to the complexity and level of detail, the model is recommended for experienced model makers.
