Build a detailed scale replica of the famous Soviet Raketa Project 340E passenger hydrofoil with this impressive 1:100 card model kit from Orel (No. 321).

The Raketa was one of the best-known Soviet high-speed passenger river vessels. Developed during the 1950s, the first Project 340 hydrofoil entered service in 1957. Designed for fast passenger transport on suburban and regional river routes, Raketa hydrofoils could operate on routes of up to approximately 600 km.

The vessel featured a lightweight riveted duralumin hull and superstructure, with selected structural components manufactured from steel. Watertight bulkheads divided the hull into seven compartments.

Early Raketa vessels were powered by 12-cylinder V-type M50-6 marine diesel engines, producing approximately 1,000 hp at 1,700 rpm. Later vessels received the more powerful M50F-3 engine, developing approximately 1,200 hp at 1,850 rpm.

The Raketa family included several variants, including Projects 340, 340E, 340ME and 340P, and became one of the most recognisable hydrofoil designs of the Soviet era. Approximately 400 vessels of the family were constructed.
