Product Description
Build a detailed scale replica of the unusual Sukhoi Su-12, a Soviet artillery reconnaissance and correction aircraft developed in the years following the Second World War.
The Su-12 was conceived as a specialised observation aircraft capable of remaining over the battlefield for extended periods while conducting artillery reconnaissance, observation and fire correction. Its development was influenced by wartime experience with dedicated reconnaissance aircraft such as the German Focke-Wulf Fw 189, whose distinctive twin-boom configuration proved highly effective on the Eastern Front.
Work on the Soviet project began during World War II under the design bureau headed by Pavel Sukhoi. The resulting Su-12 featured a distinctive twin-boom layout, twin engines and accommodation for its reconnaissance crew. Although the concept originated during the war, development continued afterwards and the prototype eventually flew in 1947, with testing continuing into 1948. Despite promising performance, the aircraft never entered series production.
This Orel 075 card model kit recreates the Su-12 in an impressive 1:33 scale. The model is printed across 16 A4 sheets and offers a medium level of detail, making it an interesting project for experienced paper aircraft modellers. The fuselage, wings and tail surfaces feature metallic printing, giving the completed model a distinctive appearance.
The Su-12 is an unusual subject rarely represented in scale modelling, making this kit particularly appealing to collectors of Soviet aircraft, experimental aviation, Cold War aircraft and military reconnaissance aircraft.
