Product Description

This lightweight calico cotton sail cloth is specially selected for realistic model ship sails in scales 1:48 to 1:98. Made from 100% natural untreated cotton, the fabric features a fine plain weave, authentic texture, and excellent drape — closely replicating historical sail canvas used on real sailing ships.

With a weight of approximately 84 gsm, this material is around 60% lighter than heavyweight calico, making it ideal for scale sails that hang naturally without stiffness. The fabric is easy to cut, stitch, glue, and shape, making it suitable for beginner modelers, advanced builders, and scratch builders alike.

As the fabric is untreated, it must be washed before use to allow for initial shrinkage. After the first wash, the material is stable and ready for sailmaking, ageing, or shaping techniques.

Perfect for historical sailing ships, tall ships, wooden model boats, and both static and display models.
