Build an impressive large-scale replica of the MoAZ-546P, a powerful Soviet one-axle tow truck developed for heavy-duty industrial and civil applications. Published by Orel as issue No. 273, this detailed 1:25 scale card model kit recreates a civilian road-maintenance version of this unusual vehicle in its distinctive yellow colour scheme.
The MoAZ-546 family originated at the Mogilev Automobile Plant in the early 1960s. Designed as a specialised single-axle tractor, it was intended to operate with heavy towed equipment including scrapers and earth-moving machinery. The vehicle was powered by a YaMZ-238A diesel engine, a 14.87-litre V8 producing approximately 215 hp.
The MoAZ-546P had a curb weight of approximately 10 tonnes and measured 4,585 mm in length. When combined with its specialised equipment, the permissible weight of the complete road train could reach approximately 35 tonnes. These powerful machines were employed in demanding construction, earth-moving and road-maintenance operations across the USSR.
This Orel kit represents a civilian MoAZ-546P used for road-repair work. With 21 A3 sheets and an upper-intermediate level of difficulty, it provides a substantial and highly unusual modelling project. The kit is best suited to experienced card model builders comfortable working with detailed assemblies and complex vehicle models.
Important: Parts 53a–53k, forming part of the air intake assembly, were accidentally omitted during preparation of the original printed model. A supplementary sheet containing these missing parts is available separately for printing.
